Planting of the original vineyard in Langhorne Creek began in 1973, with 8 hectares of vines planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot and Malbec. With Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot planted in the 80’s and early 90’s.
This vineyard was established on a Geneva Double Curtin trellis, and while this trellis is able to consistently produce fruit of high quality, it was found to be very difficult to mechanise. With the purchase of additional land in 1993 we started to plant a new vineyard built around the Smart-Dyson trellis. We took this opportunity to increase the diversity of grape varieties grown, with plantings of Grenache, Riesling, Verdelho, Chenin Blanc, Viognier and Verdelho.
The vineyard was converted to organic in 1995 and is currently A grade certified organic with Australian Certified Organic.
